Geneva Free Port, our neighbour in a nutshell

The Geneva Free Port, opposite the future Campus Pictet de Rochemont, is where some of the goods entering Switzerland are deposited before being taxed.

The premises house Master paintings, more than three million bottles of vintage wines, precious metals, antiques and high-end timepieces in a space totalling 130,000m2. Founded in 1890, the Free Port was originally a place where foodstuffs were stored, and it’s been a feature of the La Praille district landscape since 1962.

It offers secure premises, the temperature conditions of a museum and on-site assessment and insurance of artworks. The free ports in Luxembourg, Hong Kong and Singapore all took inspiration from this model.
