The sun shines on a new dawn in aviation technology
Joining us are modern-day pioneer André Borschberg, Co-Founder and Executive Chairman of H55, who completed the first ever round-the-world solar flight with Solar Impulse, a company he co-founded with Bertrand Piccard, the grandson of Auguste and son of Jacques. We also welcome Matheu Parr, Customer Director for Rolls-Royce Electrical, and Christian Roessing, Co-Portfolio Manager of Clean Energy Strategy for Pictet Asset Management. Guest Speakers Bios
André Borschberg is a Swiss entrepreneur, explorer, pilot, and speaker. He is the co-founder of the Solar Impulse Project the first ever round-the-world solar flight, successfully completed in July 2016. During the Japan-to-Hawaii leg, André broke the world record for longest solo flight in an airplane of any kind: 117 hours and 52 minutes, breaking Steve Fosette’s 2006 record. Before that, on 7 July 2010, André completed the first 24-hour solar-powered flight.
Matheu Parr is the Customer Director for Rolls-Royce Electrical. He has led the highly specialised charge to build the world’s fastest all-electric aircraft. With a technical background in electrical engineering and project management, he was responsible for delivering this high-performance zero-emissions plane. Currently based in the UK he has 10+ year career in strategy development and R&D portfolio management across Nordics, US and Singapore. Previously undertaken roles supporting executive leadership teams in establishing, communicating and deploying an effective vision and strategy.
Christian Roessing joined Pictet Asset Management in 2015 and is a Senior Investment Manager in the Thematic Equities Team. Before joining Pictet, Christian worked for 8 years at Vontobel Asset Management, first as a Portfolio Analyst and then as an Investment Analyst / Portfolio Manager for environmentally themed funds. He started his career at Barry Callebaut as a Financial Analyst. Christian graduated with a Master in Business and Administration from the University of St. Gallen and is also a Chartered Financial Analyst chart holder.
