The Campus to become part of Geneva's skyline
A brief overview of the first high-rise towers in Geneva:
The Radio Télévision Suisse (RTS) tower
When it was built in 1969, the RTS tower was the tallest building in Geneva at 62 metres. In 2004, the SSR (Swiss Radio and Television Company) launched an international competition for the renovation of their tower: architects Inès Lamunière, today the Campus architect, and Patrick Devanthéry won the mandate.
The towers of Le Lignon
Between 1963 and 1971, architects Georges Addor, Dominique Julliard, Louis Payot and Jacques Bolliger built the cité du Lignon. Two towers of 26 and 30 floors were built, the taller of which reached 91 metres. Curious fact: base jumpers sometimes use the 30-storey tower to launch themselves into the sky!
